Dear Reader,

This past month we were honoured to host a double helping of pre-Rosh Hashana lectures where Rabbi Paysach Krohn enthralled and inpsired the packed crowds.  It was great to meet many of our PaL partners and tutors and to welcome so many new partners and tutors. If you did not manage to attend the lecture in North West London, you can watch it online here.  CD's of both events are for sale, please contact me on 0800 055 3276 or rivka@phoneandlearn.org to order.
Coming up this month for Shabbat UK is this year's Challah Make, hosted by Seed & Chazak in North West London.  This is a wonderful opportunity to attend together with your PaL partner.  See the details below, and once you have booked, just let me know and I will ensure you are included in the PaL seating area.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

Wishing you all a Chag Sameach!

Warm regards

Questions from the PaL Mailbag...
QWe are travelling to Israel on Chol Hamoed Sukkos, what should we do regarding eating on the plane and in the airport where there is no Sukkah?
AThe biblical mitzvah of living in the Sukkah is the focal point of Sukkos.  Weather permitting, one eats, relaxes and, ideally, sleeps in the Sukkah for the entire week.  Technically, it is always permitted to eat small quantities of bread and snacks outside the Sukkah, but it good practice to eat even these inside the Sukkah.  But sometimes, one has no access to a Sukkah, for example when travelling by plane or at an airport.  In such situations, it is permitted to eat outside the Sukkah.  In these circumstances, some people will prefer to stick to foods like fruit and cheese that don't technically require the Sukkah. i.e. not requiring and brochah of mezonos or hamotzi.
