Dear Reader,

Purim is almost upon us, but before you get too carried away with all those delicious hamantaschen, why not take a peek at some of our recommended  reading for the month, or check out one of the Purim events (or if you're feeling super-organised, a pre-Pesach one) highlighted below.

For any tips or advice on sending mishloach manos (Purim baskets) to your PaL, please don't hesitate to contact us by calling 0800 055 3276 or emailing info@phoneandlearn.org.

Wishing you an enjoyable, meaningful and above all a happy ('frelichen') Purim!

Questions from the PaL Mailbag...
Q: Although in recent years, Purim has often fallen on Sunday, this year it is on a Thursday, a regular work day.  Many Shuls will have early megillah readings, but if one has to work all day, how should one fulfil the other mitzvos; Purim Seuda, Matanos L'evyonim - money gifts to the poor and Mishloach Manos - food gifts?

A: It is common for Shuls to arrange collections of money at the megillah readings.  This money can be given in the evening and will be distributed during the day.  If this isn't possible, make an online donation to a charity that will give money to the Jewish poor on Purim itself.  For Mishloach Manos, ask a friend to deliver a suitable package on Purim on your behalf (give it to them before Purim for this purpose).  For Seudah, if you can't get home early enough for a more elaborate affair, eat a bread-based meal at any time during the day, but if you are driving home from work, you may want to keep the drinking to a minimum!
