PaL, Phone and Learn, maintained a very high profile at the recent Maccabi GB Community Fun Run, where the organisation was exhibiting under the banner of "Where will you find your PaL?" The event attracted thousands of runners and spectators to Allianz Park from across the spectrum of the Anglo-Jewish community, who were running either 1 km, 5 km or 10 km to raise money for one of the 43 Jewish charities participating in the event.
In addition to giving away goody bags, which were available in a range of five different, exclusive designs, PaL worked together with Jewish Interactive to provide a fun Jewish learning hub for the many children who attended the event, with the opportunity to enter their worksheets into a competition to win a £10 voucher at Torah Treasures. For most of the day the PaL stand was crowded with people asking questions about the programme while collecting their goody bads and their children entering in the competition. Visitors to the stand included many of PaL tutors and partners who gave positive feedback about their current learning partnerships.
Several runners participated in the 5 km and 10 km events, wearing their bespoke PaL running outfits. They completed the course in excellant time. PaL Programme Coordinator Rivka Graham commented, "It was very exciting to be part of the Maccabi Community Fun Run, which brought together so many different facets of our community. Many people whom I spoke with at the event were thrilled to learn more about our programme and were amazed that such a high quality Jewish learning service was available to them at their convenience and completely free of charge. I would like to thank all our runners for their hard work, training before the run and getting sponsorships to raise money for PaL."
