Last Wednesday the world marked Unity Day, a day that was launched alongside a series of commemorative events taking place in memory of the three boys, Eyal Yifrach, Naftali Fraenkel and Gil-ad Shaer, who were murdered and kidnapped by terrorists one year ago.
PaL (Phone and Learn) led the United Kingdom as part of this worldwide initiative, and in teaming up with their sister organization Partners in Torah in America, they circulated a special series of study materials to allow PaL partners to reflect and grow from this tragic experience. They were able to use these resources to learn with their study partners and dedicate it to the memory of the three boys.
PaL partner Stu Epstein felt that this was an appropriate way to commemorate such an event, which he felt was very much in keeping with PaL. Stu explained, "What a lovely idea of PaL through Unity Day to remember Eyal, Naftali and Gilad. The ultimate mitzvah is to do things for people when they cannot thank us. PaL is about sharing the beauty of Yiddishkeit with someone else and this fits in with all that PaL does for others."
Worldwide events undertaken as part of Unity Day received unanimous support and acclaim.
